Quantized State-Feedback Stabilization for Delayed Markovian Jump Linear Systems with Generally Incomplete Transition Rates
2014
Published version of an article in the journal: Abstract and Applied Analysis. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1155/2014/961925 open Access This paper is concerned with the robust quantized state-feedback controller design problem for a class of continuous-time Markovian jump linear uncertain systems with general uncertain transition rates and input quantization. The uncertainties under consideration emerge in both system parameters and mode transition rates. This new uncertain model is more general than the existing ones and can be applicable to more practical situations because each transition rate can be completely unknown or only its estimate value is known. Ammonia Activation by a Nickel NCN-Pincer Complex featuring a Non-Innocent N-Heterocyclic Carbene: Ammine and Amido Complexes in Equilibrium
2015
A Ni0-NCN pincer complex featuring a six-membered N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) central platform and amidine pendant arms was synthesized by deprotonation of its NiII precursor. It retained chloride in the square-planar coordination sphere of nickel and was expected to be highly susceptible to oxidative addition reactions. The Ni0 complex rapidly activated ammonia at room temperature, in a ligand-assisted process where the carbene carbon atom played the unprecedented role of proton acceptor. For the first time, the coordinated (ammine) and activated (amido) species were observed together in solution, in a solvent-dependent equilibrium. A structural analysis of the Ni complexes provided insig…
Early motherhood: voices from female adolescents in the Hohoe Municipality, Ghana—a qualitative study utilizing Schlossberg’s Transition Theory
2020
ABSTRACT Purpose: Using Schlossberg’s Transition Theory, this study explored the lived experiences of pregnant adolescents and adolescent mothers coping strategies during their transition to motherhood. Methods: Based on a phenomenological perspective, this qualitative study used in-depth interviews (IDIs) and focus group discussions (FGDs) to answer the research aim. The process of data gathering included 8 FGDs and 12 IDIs held with adolescent mothers and pregnant adolescents. Audio recordings were transcribed and imported into MAXQDA 2018 for analysis. Results: Applying the interpretative phenomenologial analysis (IPA), four key themes emerged. This included: news of pregnancy; adolescen…
Influence of the preparative route on the properties of WOx–ZrO2 catalysts: A detailed structural, spectroscopic, and catalytic study
2007
Abstract Two series of tungstated zirconia (WZ) solid acids covering a wide range of tungsten surface densities ( δ, W at/nm2 ) were prepared by nonconventional impregnation and coprecipitation routes, leading to samples with enhanced surface area ( ∼ 70 – 120 m 2 / g ) on annealing at 973–1073 K. The materials were thoroughly characterized by N2 physisorption , XRD, Raman, XPS, H 2-TPR, and DR UV–vis spectroscopy. The catalytic behavior of the Pt-promoted WZ catalysts (1 wt% Pt) was evaluated for the hydroconversion of n-hexadecane used as model feed representative of Fischer–Tropsch waxes. Both series of catalysts displayed a pronounced maximum in the reaction rate and a minimum in the se…
Transition-Metal-Free Decarboxylative Photoredox Coupling of Carboxylic Acids and Alcohols with Aromatic Nitriles.
2016
A transition-metal-free protocol for the redox-neutral light-induced decarboxylative coupling of carboxylic acids with (hetero)aromatic nitriles at ambient temperature is presented. A broad scope of acids and nitriles is accepted, and alcohols can be coupled in a similar fashion through their oxalate half esters. Various inexpensive sources of UV light and even sunlight can be used to achieve this C–C bond formation proceeding through a free radical mechanism.

WS2/MoS2 Heterostructures via Thermal Treatment of MoS2 Layers Electrostatically Functionalized with W3S4 Molecular Clusters
2020
The preparation of 2D stacked layers that combine flakes of different nature, gives rise to countless number of heterostructures where new band alignments, defined at the interfaces, control the electronic properties of the system. Among the large family of 2D/2D heterostructures, the one formed by the combination of the most common semiconducting transition metal dichalcogenides WS2/MoS2, has awaken great interest due to its photovoltaic and photoelectrochemical properties. Solution as well as dry physical methods have been developed to optimize the synthesis of these heterostructures. Here a suspension of negatively charged MoS2 flakes is mixed with a methanolic solution of a cationic W3S…

Pattern formation and transition to chaos in a chemotaxis model of acute inflammation
2021
We investigate a reaction-diffusion-chemotaxis system that describes the immune response during an inflammatory attack. The model is a modification of the system proposed in Penner, Ermentrout, and Swigon [SIAM J. Appl. Dyn. Syst., 11 (2012), pp. 629-660]. We introduce a logistic term in the immune cell dynamics to reproduce the macrophages' activation, allowing us to describe the disease evolution from the early stages to the acute phase. We focus on the appearance of pattern solutions and their stability. We discover steady-state (Turing) and wave instabilities and classify the bifurcations deriving the corresponding amplitude equations. We study stationary radially symmetric solutions an…
Synthetic Pathways for New Tubular Transition Metal Hydroxo- and Fluoro-Selenites: Crystal Structures ofM12(X)2(SeO3)8(OH)6(M=Co2+,Ni2+;X= OH−)
1996
The dumortierite-family structuresM12X2(SeO3)8(OH)6(M= Co2+and Ni2+;X= OH−and F−) have been synthesized. The crystal structures of the hydroxo-derivatives have been refined from X?ray powder diffraction data in the space groupP63mc(Z= 1) witha= 12.887(3) A andc= 4.981(4) A (M= Co2+,X= OH−or F−) anda= 12.704(5) A andc= 4.925(6) A (M= Ni2+,X= OH−or F−). Application of the Partial Charge Transference Model allows the understanding of the selenite derivatives crystal chemistry.
